Manifestações do Caminho (2003)

This work happened from reading the book Civilization and Its Discontents (Sigmund Freud, 1929). The portraits in black and white of women in their old age, refer to the solitude of his home, a retirement shelter in a small town in the interior of Brazil. The format used was chosen after a few meetings. I realized that the environment was not the protagonist of the story, but the marks of time and life in the skin of the portrayed. The telephoto lens provided the comfort of distance and enabled the capture of the texture, expressions and details. I have learned from those women, through much silence and observation, that our body is a book written by the time.

Este trabalho surgiu a partir da leitura do livro Mal-estar na Civilização (Sigmund Freud). Os retratos em preto e branco de mulheres na terceira idade remetem à solidão de sua morada, um asilo de uma pequena cidade no interior do Brasil. O formato utilizado foi escolhido depois de alguns encontros. Pude perceber que o ambiente não era o protagonista da história, e sim as marcas do tempo e da vida em evidência na pele das retratadas. A teleobjetiva proporcionou o conforto da distância e possibilitou a captura da textura, expressões e detalhes. Aprendi com as mulheres retratadas, através de muito silêncio e observação, que nosso corpo é um livro escrito pelo tempo.
