Óbvio Ululante (2005)

Elaborate artwork from the interpretation of someone else’s work is not to adapt, but to rethink it from our own experience, under the circumstances of time and history itself. The work of Brazilian writer and dramaturge Nelson Rodrigues served as a reference for this series, which revives his texts through my own visual interpretation. Feeling a instant identification with the narrative of the author makes me think that his interpretation was already part of my imagination, and was suddenly brought to consciousness through the intense relationship and learning that this production implied. The work was shown at the collective exhibition Ref/verências, held in 2005 at Solar Grandjean de Montigny (PUC-Rio), and curated by Joaquim Marcal.

Fazer a releitura de uma obra não é adaptá-la, mas sim revivê-la a partir da própria experiência, sob as circunstâncias do próprio tempo e história. O trabalho de Nelson Rodrigues serviu como referência para essa série, que revive sua obra através de minha própria linguagem. Esse sentimento de identificação instantânea com a linguagem do autor me faz pensar que a sua interpretação já fazia parte do meu imaginário, e foi de súbito trazida à consciência através da intensa relação e do aprendizado que a produção implicou. O trabalho foi exposto na coletiva Ref/verências, realizada em 2005 no Solar Grandjean de Montigny (PUC-Rio) com curadoria de Joaquim Marçal.I
